Data Centre

In general, the Data Centre Unit is responsible for managing the operation of the Data Centre, Disaster Recovery Centre and Server Room along with its contents or related facilities to ensure the continued operation of either ICT or non-ICT equipment. This unit consists of two sections, namely the Data Management Section and the Server and Operations Section.

Data Management Section

  • Operational management of UTHM's Main Database which is Oracle
  • Server maintenance for Oracle operations
  • Perform Oracle backups
  • Perform Oracle restore if a problem occurs

Server And Operation Section

  • Ensure that all ICT and non-ICT equipment in the Data Centre (DC), Disaster Recovery Centre (DRC) and the equipment that supports it are operating in good condition at all times.
  • Ensure solutions for failover and fallback are in a standby state, tested at least once a year.
  • Ensure that the operation of all licensed operating systems and other licensed software has not yet expired, is constantly updated and has support.
  • Ensure physical security, especially access to the DC, DRC and Server Room only to those authorized.
  • Manage Single Sign On (SSO) and Multifactor Authentication infrastructure for access to Microsoft 365 and UTHM application systems.
  • Manage the official UTHM email account.
  • Manage active directory accounts for staff and students to access the UTHM application system.
  • Manage and implement backup and recovery for servers under the responsibility of the Data Centre Unit.
  • Provide backup and recovery tools for the use of Person In Charge (PIC) servers especially those placed in DC, DRC and Server Room.
